Camp
Whispering Pines has been intentionally reaching people
for Christ for over 60 years. In 2006 we had 285 children
and adults make decisions at camp. Over 4,000 people used our facilities in
2006 and all of them left spiritually encouraged. As of May 2007 we have had over 400 volunteers
and dozens of churches, individuals and companies to
contribute funds. Please follow this link to our heroes
list of those who have helped.
As of April 2008 we still need $55,000 to complete the hotel
with volunteer labor. We also need several more skilled
and unskilled repair teams. PLEASE FOLLOW THIS LINK FOR A
LIST OF PROJECTS
THAT
STILL NEED TO BE DONE. Please contact info@campwhisperingpines.com
to schedule a repair team or make a donation.
PLEASE
NOTE: YOUR COMPANY CAN DESIGNATE UNITED WAY GIFTS TO CAMP

How
can you be a part of the recovery effort?
There
are three ways in which you can be a part of the recovery
effort of Camp Whispering Pines.
1.
Prayer
Please add the Camp and associational staff to your
Wednesday night prayer list. We need your prayers as we seek God's direction in finding
volunteers, ordering materials and raising monies to
complete this project as well as others. We are still
feeling the effects financially from feeding and housing
volunteers, that have and continue to, rebuild the Gulf
Coast. Please pray that God will provide the income that
we need to continue to meet needs with the gospel of Jesus
Christ.
2.
Volunteers
We are unable to afford to contract a construction company
to rebuild our buildings. So we must rely on volunteers to
help in the reconstruction. Over 400 volunteers from all
over the country have traveled to our area to bring us to
the point that we are today in our building. But we are
needing many more. We are needing groups from churches,
mission teams or individuals that can stay for a weekend
or longer to help us move closer to completion. PLEASE
FOLLOW THIS LINK FOR AN UPDATED LIST OF PROJECTS
that your skilled or unskilled team can do. We are at the
point that small groups and even unskilled groups can make
an impact in one day. We have RV lots for volunteers to
use.
If you are
interested to volunteering, please contact us at;
251-866-7868 or by e-mail info@campwhisperingpines.com
3.
Donations
To rebuild our adult facility by a contractor it would
cost $800,000.00. With the help of volunteers, we are
estimating the cost being half, at $400,000.00. We are
still needing monies to help us reach this goal. We
still need $97,000 to complete the hotel, 60,000 to
complete the chapel, $30,000 to complete the nurses
station, and $25,000 to build the Disaster Relief and
Maintenance Building.
But as
many of you know, material cost continue to rise. The
longer it takes to rebuild, the higher the cost of
materials. You can give in several different ways. A
individual can sponsor a room for $2,000, furnish a room
for $500, give a monthly donation or a one time gift. You
may even consider asking a Sunday school class, a men's
group, women's group, youth group or a congregation to
pool their monies together to give. Click on
Room
Sponsorship Form to downloadable a form
to distribute to individuals or groups. We
would be honored to name a building for a major donor. You
can mail you tax deductible donations to Camp
Whispering Pines 7740 Union St. Citronelle, AL 36522

Other
Construction Projects (For
more information click the links below)
Nurses
Station Because
of the loss the original motel, we lost our nurses
station. Please follow the link for a diagram and
information. The cost is about $30,000 to build with
volunteer labor. Funding and volunteers are needed. This
may be a project that your family doctor or nurse would consider sponsoring.
Any assistance we receive for this project is
greatly appreciated.
Chapel
/ Auditorium The hotel is only the first
major project that we have. Because of the increase of our
capacity we are currently constructing a new 100' x 60'
Chapel/Auditorium that will seat 500 people. The frame has
been erected and the metal has been installed. The next
step is to begin in the interior which will include the
building of walls, installation of plumbing, electric, and
heating & air.
Disaster
Relief and Maintenance
Building We are planning
to build a new Maintenance Building to replace our old
one. The previous building had been here for several years
and was in great need of being replaced. It will
house the MBA disaster relief materials, trailers and
other Camp related materials. This building is a
40x60 metal building and will cost $25,000 dollars. We
will need to construct it with volunteer help as well.
This would be a one day project of a group of 25 men. At
this time, this project is on hold because of funding.
